In
order to maintain a clean and quiet learning atmosphere and to allow
students to take full advantage of the CIS Study Center's resources, we expect that
all students accept their responsibilities to follow the established
guidelines of the CIS Study Center Policies & Procedures. Publications are
available at the Front Desk. Please ask any CIS Study Center staff member for a copy.

CIS
Study Center
facilities are open only to currently registered CIS students.
Students will be asked to present a current Miami-Dade College ID and validated schedule
upon entrance to the CIS Study Center.

CIS Study Center users will be required
to use their myMDC account in order to gain access to application software
on the computer.If you do have an myMDC account contact the CIS Study Center
Staff for assistance.

Students
are responsible for practicing safe computing at all times while in the CIS Study Center. Accordingly, and for the protection of all CIS
Study Center users, diskettes may
be disinfected by CIS Study Center staff at the Front Desk if requested.
However, the CIS Study Center assumes no liability whatsoever for any loss of data or
damage to the diskette resulting from disinfecting.

Eating,
drinking, smoking, cellular phones, audible beepers, children, and guests
are not permitted in the CIS Study Center.

The
CIS Study Center has been designed to provide a quiet, productive work atmosphere. As
such, loud or disruptive behavior is prohibited. Disruptive students will be
asked to leave the CIS Study Center and may be prohibited from further use.

The
computers are to be used for MDC course-related activities only; the
playing of computer games and chatting is not permitted in the CIS Study Center.

Because
of software copyright and College Network policies, students are not allowed
to install their own software on any CIS Study Center computer at any time. All
students' work must be saved to a diskette; no work should be saved on the
hard drive or network drive because students' work on these drives will be
erased daily.

Unauthorized
duplication of software or any other copyrighted material is prohibited and
may result in disciplinary action by the College. Printing services are
limited to a single copy of a given document and the output is only
guaranteed to be legible.

Students
are responsible for clearing their station and work area when they complete
their work. All scrap paper should be placed in the blue recycle bins
located around the CIS Study Center.

Students
may not turn any hardware on or off and should not unplug or move any
hardware. Any hardware problems should be reported to the CIS Study Center staff
immediately.

The
CIS Lab's trained staff can be identified by their MDC picture ID. Tutors
are available to help students in using the available hardware and software;
simply raise your hand for assistance or come up to the Front Desk.
Questions about specific assignment should be directed to the course
instructor.

Students
must use headphones when listening to audio presentations of any kind.

Hours
of operation will be posted at the entrance of the CIS Study Center and are subject
to change without notice although, every attempt will be made to notify
students of any changes.

It
is recommended that students name their file as they open a new document.
Then save the file frequently (every 10 minutes should be sufficient). The
College will not be liable for any damage whatsoever (including loss
resulting from system interruptions or loss of information) arising out of
the use or inability to use any equipment and / or software in the CIS Study Center.

Computer
seating space and certain course resources are available on a first-come,
first-served basis. The CIS Study Center staff reserves the right to limit student
time if there are others waiting to use the equipment or course resources.

The
CIS Study Center accommodates students with special needs; wheelchair accessible
tables are available; CIS Study Center staff are happy to assist when requested.

The
Front desk area of the CIS Study Center is off-limits to everyone except the CIS
Study Center staff. CIS Study Center telephones are for use by CIS Study Center
employees only.

When
a fire alarm sounds, all occupants of the CIS Study Center must leave immediately.

All
personal property brought into the CIS Study Center is the sole responsibility of the
owner.

Failure
to comply with published CIS Study Center Policies and Procedures may result in
disciplinary action including, but not limited to being banned from the CIS Study Center
and dismissal from the College. Any acts of theft or vandalism such as
writing on tables, walls, equipment, etc., will result in strong
disciplinary action by the College.

The
Computer CIS Study Center staff will do everything in its power to make sure that you
have a good learning experience, which, hopefully, would contribute to your
academic pursuits.
